1.Our Commitment to Accessibility

Sa'adah believes its digital services should be accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We are committed to ensuring that our digital platform — website and app — meets the WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Accessibility is not a one-time project but an ongoing commitment embedded in our development cycle.

2.Standards & Target Level

We target conformance with:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA: The four core principles — Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust.
  • Bilingual Arabic/English (RTL/LTR) support: Page direction and content flow switch automatically based on the selected language (dir="rtl" for Arabic, dir="ltr" for English) to ensure correct reading order and a seamless experience.
  • Assistive technology compatibility: We test against common screen readers including NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.

3.Measures Taken to Improve Accessibility

Measures currently implemented by Sa'adah include:

  • Semantic HTML elements (main, nav, article, section, header, footer) in preference to generic elements.
  • Skip-to-main-content links at the top of each page for keyboard users.
  • Full keyboard navigation across all primary interactions (forms, menus, dialogs).
  • Sufficient colour contrast between text and backgrounds to meet the minimum 4.5:1 ratio for standard-size text.
  • Descriptive alternative text for all informative images; decorative images hidden from screen readers (aria-hidden).
  • Descriptive labels for all form elements and interactive controls.
  • Focus management when dialogs open, modals appear, and routes change.
  • ARIA attributes applied where native HTML semantics fall short.
  • Full respect for the prefers-reduced-motion media query for users who prefer reduced animation.
  • Status, error, and dynamic-update announcements surfaced to screen readers via appropriate aria-live regions.

4.Known Limitations & Areas of Ongoing Work

Despite our ongoing efforts, some areas may not yet reach the target level:

  • Some organizer-generated content (event descriptions, images) may not consistently meet accessibility standards, as this falls under organizer responsibility. We provide organizer guidance on this topic.
  • Third-party embedded video content may lack captions or descriptions in some cases.

We regularly identify and address these issues as part of our development cycles.

5.Reporting an Accessibility Issue

If you encounter an accessibility barrier or need content in an alternative format, please contact us:

  • Email: accessibility@saadah.com
  • Contact form: Contact page

Please include:

  • The URL of the page where you encountered the issue.
  • A brief description of the barrier.
  • The device, browser, and assistive technology you were using.

We aim to respond to accessibility reports within 5 business days and to propose a solution or alternative pathway as quickly as possible.

6.Ongoing Improvement

Sa'adah commits to:

  • Conducting periodic accessibility audits with participation from users with disabilities.
  • Training our development and design team on accessibility best practices.
  • Integrating accessibility checks into the QA testing workflow.
  • Updating this statement whenever material changes are made to the platform.

7.Conformance Status

We assert that we strive for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. This statement is based on self-assessment and internal audits; we intend to commission an independent third-party evaluation in due course.

Statement date: [To be confirmed before go-live].
